Uljhan story (no spoilers)
Uljhan is a 2001 Hindi drama-mystery-thriller directed by Rajan Johri. The story centres on a wealthy man whose world turns upside down when he learns that Anjali, the woman he has set his heart on, is drawn to his adopted brother instead. A tragic accident then leaves him disfigured, and Anjali begins to fall in love with him while helping him recover. Even so, she still harbours romantic feelings for his brother, leaving the trio caught between gratitude, old attachment and new affection. The tagline, 'Sometimes love thrills. Sometimes love kills,' signals a tone that mixes romantic drama with mystery and suspense.
Should you watch Uljhan?
Watch it for
- Rajan Johri directs a Hindi drama-mystery-thriller that folds a love triangle into a story of disfigurement and recovery.
- Puru Raaj Kumar plays Varun opposite Deepti Bhatnagar as Anjali Mathur, with Vivek Mushran as Prashant and Alok Nath as Mr. Mathur.
- The 141-minute runtime gives the Anjali-Varun-Prashant emotional triangle room to develop alongside the mystery elements.
- The tagline 'Sometimes love thrills. Sometimes love kills.' sets a darker, suspense-leaning mood than a straightforward romance.
Skip it if

- You want a clean, uncomplicated love story rather than a love triangle complicated by an accident and disfigurement.
- You are looking for a recent release; Uljhan came out in Hindi in 2001.

Our verdict
Uljhan is a 2001 Hindi drama-mystery-thriller that uses a love triangle and a disfiguring accident to keep its emotional stakes tangled. Puru Raaj Kumar, Deepti Bhatnagar and Vivek Mushran carry the central conflict under Rajan Johri's direction, and the 141-minute runtime lets the romance and mystery breathe. It is an honest pick for fans of early-2000s Hindi suspense dramas rather than anyone after a brisk thriller.
