Sonu Sood began his acting career with roles in Telugu and Hindi films. In 2009, he received the Andhra Pradesh State Nandi Award for Best Villain and the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor – Telugu for his work in the Telugu blockbuster Arundhati. The following year, he won the Apsara Award for Best Actor in a Negative Role and the IIFA Award for Best Performance in a Negative Role for his role in the Bollywood blockbuster Dabangg (2010). In 2012, he received the SIIMA Award for Best Actor in a Negative Role for Julayi. In July 2016, he established the production house Shakti Sagar Productions, named after his father, Shakti Sagar. He has appeared in films such as Devi(L) (2016) as Raj Khanna, Simmba (2018) as Durva Ranade, and Paltan (2018) as Maj. Bishen Singh. In 2019, he appeared in Sita and in Devi 2 as Raj Khanna (Guest Appearance). In 2021, he played Gaja in Alludu Adhurs. In 2022, he appeared as Chand Vardai in Samrat Prithviraj and as Basava in Acharya. In 2025, he starred in Fateh as Fateh Singh, and also served as director and screenwriter for the film.
