Swami story (no spoilers)
Swami, his wife Radha and their child leave their village after selling the ancestral home and move to Mumbai. There, they enrol their kid in a school attended by children from affluent families, and life settles into a routine. The calm breaks when Radha is diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. Swami begins working overtime to raise money for her operation, but Radha spends the entire amount on a chair that Swami has long wanted to possess. Radha passes away leaving one wish: that their child should one day settle in America. The film follows how Swami works toward that dream. It is a Hindi-language drama directed by Ganesh Acharya, with Manoj Bajpayee as Swami and Juhi Chawla Mehta as Radha.

Our verdict
Swami is a small-scale Hindi drama that leans on Manoj Bajpayee and Juhi Chawla Mehta to carry a story about a village family in Mumbai and a promise made after loss. It is not a flashy film, but the premise of a father working toward his wife's dying wish gives it a clear emotional pull. If you like quiet family dramas, it is worth a look.
