L2: Empuraan story (no spoilers)
Five years after Jathin Ramdas became Chief Minister of Kerala, his decision to align with communal forces led by Balraj 'Baba' Bajrangi pulls Stephen Nedumpally — also known as Khureshi Ab'raam — back from abroad. Stephen returns with his trusted aide Zayed Masood to protect his home state and settle old scores. The film is a Malayalam action-crime-thriller directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, with Mohanlal playing the dual identity of Stephen and Khureshi. The story unfolds across Hindi, French, English, and Malayalam, and runs 179 minutes. The tone is tense and confrontational, built around political power struggles and the violent consequences of Stephen's return.

L2: Empuraan continues the Lucifer story with Mohanlal's Stephen Nedumpally facing a political crisis triggered by Jathin Ramdas. Prithviraj Sukumaran directs a 179-minute action-crime-thriller that assumes you know the 2019 original. It's a solid pick for franchise followers, but newcomers should start with Lucifer first.
