Balan - The Boy story (no spoilers)
Balan - The Boy is a Malayalam drama-thriller about a teenage boy named Balan, played by Adhisheshan K R, who grows up through a turbulent childhood. When his mother, Amma (Farzana Palathingal), goes missing, Balan begins a search to find her. The film follows his pursuit of closure and the truth about his past, with Muhammed Zinaan playing an older Balan. The story is rooted in Balan's personal quest rather than action set pieces, and the tone leans serious and tense as the mystery of his mother's disappearance unfolds. At 140 minutes, the film gives space to Balan's emotional journey and the people around him, including Abbas (Tovino Thomas), Pavithran K S (Lal Jr.), Shamnath (Beena Antony), Francis Alex (Girish A. D.) and Ammachi (Dolly June). Directed by Chidambaram with music by Sushin Shyam, Balan - The Boy is a character-driven thriller about family, loss and the search for answers, without revealing how Balan's search ends.
