Trisha Krishnan began her acting career with a supporting role in the 1999 Tamil film Jodi. Her first lead role came in the 2002 film Mounam Pesiyadhe, which earned her a Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. She then starred in successful films such as Saamy (2003) and Ghilli (2004) in Tamil cinema, and Varsham (2004) in Telugu cinema, for which she received her first South Filmfare Best Actress Award. In 2010, she made her Bollywood debut in Khatta Meetha opposite Akshay Kumar. Her later films include Yennai Arindhaal (2015) as Hemanika, Sakalakala Vallavan (2015) as Divya, Aranmanai 2 (2016) as Anitha, and Kodi (2016) as Rudhra. In 2018, she played Janaki "Janu" Devi in the romance film 96. She appeared as Saro in the 2019 action film Petta. In 2022 and 2023, she portrayed Kundavai in Ponniyin Selvan: Part I and Ponniyin Selvan: Part II, respectively. She also starred as Sathya in the 2023 film Leo. In 2025, she appeared in four films: Vidaamuyarchi as Kayal, Good Bad Ugly as Ramya, Identity as Alisha, and Thug Life as Indrani. Her upcoming film is Karuppu (2026), where she plays Preethi.
